Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara Review

Happy Friday loves!

I’m so excited to share this review today of the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara. Like with all high end mascaras, I refuse to invest $30+ without first trying the sample size, as see in the photos. There are so many great drugstore, affordable mascaras out there that I have a lot of trouble justifying buying one unless it is perfection.

THE DEETS:

This is the newest mascara release from Marc Jacobs and sells for $33CAN at Sephora. It has a traditional fiber brush and claims to give major volume in “three strokes or less”. The mascara is formulated with paraffin wax, synthetic beeswax, and rice bran wax for major volume. Also, Marc Jacobs Beauty is ‘cruelty-free’ recognized by PETA, however they cannot confirm the practises of third-party ingredients, which is a wee bit sketchy.

THE PROS:

-Super lengthening

-Gives me beautiful, wide-eyed lashes

-One brush coat is usually enough for BOTH eyes

-Super black formula

THE CONS:

-I do notice some flaking mid-day

-High price ($33CAN)

THE VERDICT:

4.75/5

I am so in love with this mascara! It really is perfect lashes in a tube and I think I just may swallow the price and invest in the full size. I actually find this to be a combination of lengthening and volumizing, and holy smokes does it give length. I thought the Better Than Sex Mascara (despite lots of flaking) was great, but this gives it a run for its money. I find length and volume are even better and there is less flaking. It really is so hard to find a mascara that doesn’t flake at all! I adore this mascara and always think, “daaaang lashes” when I have it on.

  1. This is my mascara! I’ve only ever used MAC but when I bought this I was blown away. Leaves my lashes super black and really full and long. Plus when you feel your lashes once they are dry they feel like your wearing falsies!
