The first thing I want to address is why Marc Jacobs has become such a household name. He was one of my favorite artists growing up and I remember seeing his work at the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan when I was in college (I think it was The Bookshop exhibit that was on at the time). He is an interesting case study because he had created two very successful menswear brands and he has been able to secure a lot of publicity by using these brands as vehicle for himself:

• Marc by Marc Jacobs: The best-selling menswear brand he has ever launched

• Marc by Marc Jacobs Fashion Week: An annual showcase where celebrities such as Halle Berry and Jennifer Lopez show off their latest fashion designs

Even if you don’t relate to any of these brands, it’s easy to see how they would have catapulted him into the public eye — but if you are involved in either one or both, I think it would be wise to start paying attention now that he is launching a new brand!

4. Pros and Cons of the Marc Jacobs Black Velvet Mascara

Marc Jacobs does not make mascaras, but the Marc Jacobs Black Velvet Mascara is an exemplary example of the product-market fit phenomenon. In the first place, Marc Jacobs is a brand that has existed for years and has never made any product. Secondly, Marc Jacobs is a very well-known figure in the fashion world; thirdly, there are many other brands who compete with him (especially in China), and fourthly, there are millions of people who have already used his products in one way or another.

So, what’s so bad about this mascara?

First of all, its price tag. $19.50 is a pretty steep price tag for a mascara — especially if you have to pay shipping costs to get it to you — even if it doesn’t perform as well as the others mentioned above (but let’s just assume that it will).

Second of all…it doesn’t do anything different from any other mascara you could buy for similar money. It was designed to deliver a similar effect to what you get with most other mascaras but without being too obvious about it. The only reason why this brand is so popular is because it looks good on people who can afford thousands of dollars per year: Those people are usually people who are already members of high-end fashion houses or celebrities. Many of these people would be happy with just buying their own cheap version of the product (that looks good and performs well) for less than $10 because they don’t want to “look like rich kids” or “be associated with rich kids.” In short: They want something cheap which will look good on them and at least perform in an acceptable manner so they don’t have to spend money on something better (which they can do by hiring an expensive stylist). So, as far as I understand the concept behind this brand goes: It works great on those who are already members of large brands whose products they already know and like; and that works out great for Marc Jacobs since he is famous enough that he can sell his products by association (at least partially). This makes sense considering that their new branding campaign includes prominently featuring celebrities around their logo which also gives them name recognition without having to invest in expensive advertising campaigns themselves!

5. Marc Jacobs Black Velvet Mascara Cost

The Marc Jacobs Black Velvet Mascara is a mascara that I love. It is the perfect formula and color for my skin tone. The brush is so soft, I don’t think it will ever wear out!

I have been sitting on this review for a while because I initially bought the mascara from Sephora because it was “on sale” and because I really wanted to like this mascara, but then realized that the price tag was higher than most of my other mascaras. So let’s just say that…

And now, the price has gone down to $17.50 which isn’t too bad at all, but you can still find it at Sephora for $20! Save yourself the hassle of buying stuff off eBay or Amazon and just use an authorized Sephora retailer!

The other thing that has happened in recent times is that another product (which we will come back to) has come along and killed this one. If you love this mascara, but want it to last longer (and if you are saving money), there is still hope: I know companies who have improved their formula over time with better brush technology so they can make them last a bit longer as well. So there are still options out there if you are willing to spend more than $20 on the mascara itself.

6. Where to Buy the Marc Jacobs Black Velvet Mascara  

Marc Jacobs Black Velvet Mascara has been my favorite mascara since it was released. It’s a very versatile product and a bit more expensive than most mascaras, but it’s worth the cost. It’s incredibly long-lasting (several hours!) and the packaging is just stunning.

The Marc Jacobs Black Velvet Mascara is available from Sephora for $45, but I thought I would put together a guide for Amazon buyers who have been wanting to try this product but don’t have time to travel to Sephora (or don’t want to spend that much).

If you are not familiar with Amazon, it is an e-commerce site for physical goods and services. You can buy whatever you need at a price that is way better than what you would pay in a brick-and-mortar store (they offer free shipping on orders over $25) and there is no minimum order size or minimum purchase amount.
