Tarte Amazonian Clay Full-Coverage Airbrush Foundation Review

Hi beauties,

It’s been a while since I posted a foundation review, and I have spent the past few months testing the baby out. Today I’m reviewing the Tarte Amazonian Clay Full-Coverage Airbrush Foundation for you. I was interested in trying out a new loose powder foundation for summer to change things up from my ride-or-die Bare Minerals foundation. That foundation has been a stable in the makeup arsenal for years now, but you never know if there’s a better product out there if you don’t try new things.

THE DEETS:

I picked this up from Sephora for $47CAN, which is a lot more expensive than the Bare Minerals powder foundation which is priced at $26CAN, however you essentially get double the product-0.247oz from Tarte vs. 0.05oz from Bare Minerals. Main ingredients includingย quartz, ruby powder, tourmaline, pearl, and sea salt. This product claims to give an airbrush effect, not settle into fine lines, and provide 12-hour coverage.

This product is also talc free which is great- even though cosmetic grade talc is safe, when it comes to a loose powder product, I’d rather not breathe it in. I picked up the shade ‘Light Sand’ meant for light skin tones with yellow undertones.

THE PROS:

-Easy application and less mess with the sifter pan

-Doesn’t need heavy layering to provide medium coverage

-High-quality ingredients

-Natural looking skin

-Lasts all day

THE CONS:

-More of a medium-full coverage than full

-Some settling into fine lines

THE VERDICT:

4.5

Overall I love this product. The sifter pan is way faster and easier to use than Bare Minerals, and the product doesn’t need to be layered very much to achieve medium-full coverage, whereas Bare Minerals needs to be layered. I find it difficult for any powder product to provide complete full coverage, and this one is definitely more medium.I did notice some settling into smile lines after a long night, but not as much settling as occurs with many liquid foundation products.

The finish of this foundation overall is quite undetectable and very similar to Bare Minerals with the exception that Tarte’s product is more pigmented. This also feels like you are wearing nothing on your skin and is so comfortable to wear! I have dry skin and never feel like this product enhances that or gives me a tight feeling on my face. This product also lasts all day, even without a setting powder!! Well done Tarte.
