Kat Von D Lock ‘N Load Makeup Setting Mist Review

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful weekend!

Other than liquid lipstick and highlighting, I feel like it’s been the year of Kat Von D cosmetics. Everyone and their dog are talking about how great her products are, so I thought I’d try her setting spray! I’ve been testing this out for a few months now in place of my usual Urban Decay setting spray (I go between Chill and All Nighter).

This product is formulated with aloe and cucumber extract which sounded great for sensitive skin. It’s meant to lock in your makeup for 16 hours without drying your skin or making you look like an oil slick. I bought this for $30CAD at Sephora.

-A few sprays will cover the whole face

-Refreshing cucumber scent

-Does a good job of keeping my makeup fresh all day

Cruelty free

-The mist isn’t as fine as Urban Decay’s setting spray

-Takes a while to dry

-My face feels wet and kind of greasy after I use this

-This has irritated my skin

-Contains mineral oil

I wish I could’ve given this a higher score because it DOES work just as good as my Urban Decay All Nighter. I can’t get past the heavy mist though- it feels like my face is getting a shower (even with only two sprays) and takes ages to dry down.

I have also experienced some irritation immediately when spraying this on my face. I’ve noticed a burning feeling on my forehead which is weird. Maybe it’s from the mineral oil? That’s another bummer- a $30 setting spray shouldn’t have mineral oil in it. I overlooked that when I bought it. Many sources argue mineral oil is perfectly safe, but I’d rather just avoid it. I’ll be going back to Urban Decay.

Love the review, I have always been curious about this product and never understood why people don’t talk about it more.

No I haven’t! I’ve heard mixed reviews so I’ve been a bit hesitant. It’s definitely affordable though!

Thanks for reviewing this. I have sensitive skin so I feel like this wouldn’t work for me since you said their was a burning feeling. I will try Urban Decay’s setting spray instead <3

Yes I was quite surprised by that. It didn’t happen every time but the times it did I almost took all my makeup off!
