Once in a while you love a product so much that you overlook the high price tag. That’s kind of what happened with this primer from Burberry– the Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base. I kept seeing that this won Allure’s Best of Beauty Award and when I got a deluxe sample of it over a year ago and really loved it, but the price was up there for sure. Finally during last season’s VIB Rouge Sale I decided to go for it, especially because my Becca Backlight Primer was totally out. Read my full review below.
BURBERRY FRESH GLOW FLUID BASE DEETS:
This product retails for $54CAD for one fluid ounce- yikes! It is actually available in two shades- ‘Nude Radiance’ and ‘Golden Radiance’, but I opted for ‘Nude Radiance’ since my skin is pretty light most of the time. It is 55% water and promises to glide across the skin effortlessly and blur minor imperfections, whilst being shimmer-free. They call this a multi-use product because you can wear it alone, under makeup, or even to highlight key areas. I’ve used it to add a glow to my chest and shoulders for a night out and on vacation. It’s been continously sold out from Sephora Canada lately, but you can order it here from Sephora US.
-Beautiful, luxurious packaging
-Has a pump = no mess on your hands
-Instantly illuminates skin with no glitter particles
-Does not break me out or clog pores!
-Does not enhance texture or lines
-Can be worn alone to give skin a lovely glow
-Their stance on animal testing is difficult to find (which usually means they do it), and they do sell to China which means this brand is not cruelty free.
-The bottle is a bit bulky since it’s a tall rectangle
I really love the Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Face Base. It’s definitely a splurge product, but there’s just something about it that’s better than the Becca Backlight Primer. I think the Becca primer is slightly more cool toned while this one is more neutral, and I also aim towards more neutral/warm tones in my makeup. Also, I feel like this product applies so smoothly and absorbs nicer into the skin while the Becca primer kind of sits on top.
Generally if I’m not doing a fullllll coverage look I’ll always use this primer. Some days I don’t even highlight and I just let this show through my makeup! I also like to apply a little under my brow bone so it’s a subtle barely-there little glow. I recently featured this product in my “Current Dewy, Long-lasting Makeup Routine” post- read it here.
