I hope you’ve all had a great Labour Day weekend. Today I’m reviewing the Tarte Lights, Camera Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara for you. I originally got this as part of a flash sale on Tartecosmetics.com in a set with 7 other products for $84. It was a deal I couldn’t pass up! I’ve always wanted to try this popular product, so does it hold up to its claims? Read on.
This mascara retails at a steep $27CAD and claims to be a 4-in-1 product that will lengthen, volumize, curl and condition your lashes. It claims to increase lash volume by 330% and contains ingredients like rice bran, carnuba wax and olive esters. You get 7mL of product which is in the average range for most mascaras. This product is vegan and cruelty-free (although Tarte’s parent company is not, so that is always debatable).
-Volumizes and lengthens a lot!
-Easy to grip tube
-I always have good lash days when using this product
-Not great for under-eyes (it gets a bit smudgy)
-The tube gets kind of grimy feeling after a while
Overall I think this mascara performs really well. I always felt pretty and like I was having a really good lash day when I used it, so that says a lot. This was one of those products where I didn’t really want to like it because it was so many people’s favourites, but of course now it’s one of my favourites too!
I can’t really say much about the conditioning effects of it as my lashes don’t look like they have grown or anything, and the curling effect is okay. The packaging does get kind of dirty after a while because of the faux leather, but it’s not a big deal. I don’t really like using this on my bottom lashes as halfway through the day I feel like it gets kind of messy. All in all I think this mascara does a really good job and it’s a solid product, but I still love my Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara just a tad more!
