Drugstore Win: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

Hi my pretties,

In lieu of studying, I thought I’d share a review of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream! I’m a good student sometimes I swear.

This product was making waves when it was first released because drugstore-priced brands have kinda sucked at hopping on the liquid lipstick train. I’ve been eager to try it because it’s a ‘lip cream’. I bought this for $8CAN at London Drugs, and I’m reviewing the shade ‘Stockholm‘- all of the shades are named after cities.
THE PROS:

-super easy application, glides smoothly and ‘creamily’ (say it with an accent)

-goes on matte and stays matte

-smells SO good (It’s less fun when makeup smells like makeup you feel me??)

-great staying powder

THE CONS:

-The corners have to be touched up every few hours

-Feels a bit dry (but it’s matte, so I expected that)

SO…?

Overall I love this product. As with any liquid lipstick type product, the corners of your mouth need to be touched up a bit more regularly than normal matte lipstick, but it’s not a big deal. This stuff holds up super well all day and passed the eating/drinking test as good as it could have. It doesn’t bleed at all either! Which is huge because no one likes bleeding lips. Keep in mind this is only one shade so I can’t speak to the bright red or plum formulas of this.

This lip cream is super comfortable to wear and I actually often forget I have it on until I look in the mirror. I will definitely be repurchasing this and just feel so effortlessly pretty when I wear this. Perfect ‘your lips but better’ shade. Trust me.

P.S. I wanted to share a swatch but this lip cream has been temporarily eaten by one of my bags. Do forgive me!
