All About Oils!

Hi loves,

I’m so excited to share this post with you because I was skeptic turned lover for oils! Face and body oils didn’t use to be as popular as they are right now, and you may be with me when I say when I first heard of facial oil I cringed. Aren’t we fighting oily complexions and trying to buy “oil-free” products?

Yes and no. Many companies do use cheap fillers like mineral oil (baby oil) to make up the base of a product. Mineral oil can indeed make your complexion worse because of its greasy consistency and it doesn’t absorb nicely. You should try to avoid it as it has zero benefits and is linked to premature aging!! Always read your labels.

Not all oils are bad, and many are actually great for you. Sometimes I prefer to use an oil over a lotion because they are more concentrated and the results can be quick.Β Here are four of my favourite products right now:

Julep Elixir Organic Argan Oil: This organic Argan oil can be used on hair, skin and face. It can be a bit too heavy for the skin but I love using this on my hair after showering. Β Just a few drops in my palms and then I run my hands through my hair. I find a lot of Argan oils in the hair product aisle contain many other additives and chemicals but this is 100% Argan oil. They sell it for $24 but I got it in a Julep Maven box and it’s lasted me ages so far!

Fresh Seaberry Face Oil: I got two samples of this from online orders and I LOVE it! I will definitely purchase a full size when my samples are done. It is made with Sea buckthorn oil, a favourite of mine and known to fend off free-radicals. It also has cranberry, rosemary, and sweet almond oil- all great anti-agers. This oil smells great and has helped the dry spots on my face a lot! $22 for full size.

Ojon Revitalizing Mist: This is a detangler and oil spray for after the shower. Any post-shower oil spray for hair is essential for me. It’s a find I picked up from a beauty outlet store in Seattle and I got it for $19. Sephora sells this line and I was curious to try it. The Ojon oil comes from nuts that grow in small quantities in Central America.

C. Booth Tahitian Monoi Dry Oil Spray: I’m in love once again. As a lover of natural products, I don’t know what took me so long to try this brand! Once again, it’s an amazing post-shower product and its so quick to use. I hate that greasy feeling from putting on lotion and then trying to get dressed. This won’t do that, and your skin will smell like fresh flowers! $10.

I love oils because a little really goes a long way and you’re basically putting a concentration of nutrients on your skin.
