Intro

Tired of re-readings? No one is.

I’m not.

Everyone reads. We all do it. We all have to read something again, even if we’re only a few pages in, even if we’re just skimming. It happens to everyone from time to time and it doesn’t bother us.

But the problem is that you can’t read for a long time without reaching a point at which you feel like rereading what you just had written, so you go back and look at your notes again and there is no way to make it easy on yourself. You need something that makes it easier on yourself – something like a marc jacobs highlighter.

It doesn’t matter how good your writing is; there are times when you want to take a break from reading, but you still have to read everything and then wait until it comes back up again after a while because there are such things as “next pages!” or “next line!” or “next sentence!” or whatever the next thing may be (and no, I am not making that up). You need this marc jacobsenice feature too so that you can stop going back and forth between pages, paragraphs, sentences and paragraphs as often as needed without sucking in your eyes with every blink of the eye (or worse yet, with every eyelash) and thus stressing your eyes out all over again.

The Marc Jacobs highlighter is a beauty product that comes in a small box and looks like a classy little highlighter. It is not highlighter at all. It has no actual pigment. The colors are too bright and too saturated for that purpose. The colors are not pretty enough to entice me to use it for anything other than highlighting. The colors are too bright and saturated for me to use it on its own as an actual highlight. It is not nearly as pigmented as the usual makeup products I use in my makeup routine. It has no additional functionality that I can see or understand other than being “highlighting” or something like that.

I guess this makes it a good product for highlighting people who want to look very light on their makeup but already have blemishes or dark circles under their eyes from sleep deprivation or whatever — because the color will help them lessen the appearance of those blemishes without affecting their lighting accuracy much at all (which would be more noticeable). But if you want to highlight yourself with a nice shiny effect, it isn’t really useful; and if you really want to highlight your face and skin (which I do), then you are better off getting true face powders instead since they do have pigment in them that will even out the skin color correctly.

I think Marc Jacobs makes some interesting products which I would probably be more likely to use if they were significantly more costly (such as their Lipgloss line). But so far he has focused on acceptable applications of his products — which is fine — but he could go further (and make more money) by making higher-quality products with different features and different prices (and maybe even selling them across multiple niche markets such as clothing, accessories or hair care).

Marc Jacob’s Highlighter Palette is a new way of highlighting your best ideas. In the past we have seen that people write down their best ideas, then forget them and never use them again (or they don’t even know they wrote them down!). Marc has a different approach: he lists all of his best ideas on the website and you pick one and highlight it in a palette of all the colors available.

The idea is simple: if you can’t remember what you write down, that means you don’t really need to write it down. If you do remember your best ideas, great! You can simply highlight them in whatever color you like using Marc Jacobs Highlighter. So not only are you writing something special now, but you are also committing to using it more often than ever.

If I could take credit for this idea I would be a happy man — but Marc credits the inspiration to his friend Kevin Kelly, who popularized the idea of “thinking on paper” in The Art of Information Management (it was published in 1995).

Anyway, here is an article showing how to create your own Marc Jacobs Highlighter Palette:

I hope this helps. Happy highliking ?

The Marc Jacobs Highlighter Palette is a beautiful palette of soft and subtle hues that give a natural glow to skin. The highest quality eyeshadow can only do so much to fix the darkness under the eyes; Marc’s highlighter palette is a small step in the right direction.

The palette contains 12 shades, which gives you plenty of options to create your own hues. You can use these shades as an everyday face or special occasion palette, depending on your mood. This palette is available in 2 finishes: matte and shimmery (matte), and also in 4 finishes: shimmery, semi-matte, satin and glitter. Each of the 4 finishes has its own unique look and feel.

As with all Marc Jacobs products, this product comes in a luxurious gift box along with a magnetic pouch for easy safekeeping.

Marc is a funny guy, and he’s a great writer. In his blog, he talks about the ideal highlighter: one that creates lights on a page and doubles as a pen. He also talks about the ideal pen: one that can easily be erased.

He describes the ideal highlighter as “small and elegant”, with a “soft ink” (he uses black) and “a fresh touch” (he uses this). The ideal pen is “smooth”, “silky-smooth”, with a “clean line” (he uses blue). The ideal highlighter is light enough to be carried anywhere but still offers the power of two in one package.

Finally he mentions how this all relates to software development: how if you don’t have an ideal highlighter or pen, it’s hard to develop software. And whether you want to write code or highlight code, if you want an ideal highlighter or pen, you’ll need an ideal programmer/developer/programmer/editor.

What do I think? I love Marc’s post and would much rather spend my time writing about it than writing code for my product. But I think he’s got some conceptually interesting things going on here that I agree with in theory but can’t really put into practice because we lack both hardware and programmers.

Marc Jacobs’ highlighter is a little bit like our company in many ways.

It launched with a simple idea: to create a highlighter that you can buy for the price of your smartphone. It’s not about making a fancy product, it’s about selling it for what it costs in apps and hardware.

We also pay attention to design and innovation, which is why we have paid so much attention to the development of marc jacobs highlighter, and why it doesn’t look like any other product. We have had many great ideas; this one was ours first. It is unashamedly designed by our team in-house, with no brand or corporate influence allowed (as if we ever needed one).

All this time, there have been two types of people who have used marc jacobs highlighter: customers who wanted to use it but couldn’t because they didn’t own smartphones and professional users who could use it but didn’t want to because their smartphones are big enough for them to use the whole range of highlighters at once.
